Video Interview with Billy Davis

Billy Davis won 11 ATA National Titles spanning a period of more than 30 years.  He was Althea Gibson’s training partner and the road manager for her exhibition tour during the 1950’s.  Billy was a ballboy for the historic match between world champion Don Budge and Black champion Jimmie McDaniel.  In this two-part interview, Billy discusses his recollections of tennis from the 1940’s through today.     AUNT DORIS AND UNCLE DEE CAME TO VISIT MY MOTHER (VIOLET) OFTEN.

    I AM THE SAME AGE AS FRANKIE BUT WE NEVER GOT TO SEE EACH OTHER MUCH WHILE GROWING UP.

    BILLIE AND MY SISTER MARIE ARE THE SAME AGE.
